Sapphire Gin Glass Competition

If you combine elegance and drinking glass design into a competition, the results can be wondrous.  Some beautiful glass creations are the result of just such a competition sponsored by Bombay Sapphire Gin.

To begin with, the everyday Bombay Sapphire Gin bottle is elegant.  The competitors used that design as inspiration for their glasses.  The results are equally as elegant.

Above is the grand prize winner of the competition.

At the same time, Bombay Sapphire Gin commissioned the design and creation of a bottle to reflects the idea of sapphire.  The image above is that bottle.  Five handmade crystal bottles were made.   Each was hand decorated with diamonds and sapphires.

They are on display in several airports around the world, including,  London Heathrow, New York JKF, Dubai, Singapore and Sydney.  Each cost $200,000 US.  Of course, they are filled with
